To strengthen the construction of academic ethics standards for scientific and technological journals, boost research integrity, protect the rights and interests of all readers and authors, and safeguard the quality and reputation of this journal, China Swine Industry will conduct multiple rounds of detection and screening on all submitted papers in strict accordance with the editorial and publishing procedures. Papers confirmed to involve academic misconduct will be rejected, and authors will face severe penalties depending on the severity of violations. All authors are advised to conduct paper plagiarism detection via the official website prior to submission. At present, Wanfang Data provides detection services for individual users. Using third-party channels for plagiarism check may lead to leakage of papers and research outcomes. The detailed detection, identification procedures and disciplinary measures are hereby announced as follows:
The Editorial Department adopts the CNKI Scientific Journal Academic Misconduct Literature Detection System and relevant search engine systems to examine submitted papers, and actively follows up clues provided during peer review. With China Academic Journal Network Publishing Database as the full-text comparison database, the Editorial Department detects all papers at every editorial and publishing stage for academic misconduct including plagiarism, falsification, tampering, inappropriate authorship, multiple submissions of the same manuscript, etc. For papers with high similarity rates flagged by the detection system, the Editorial Department will invite experts in relevant research fields or the Editorial Committee to conduct review and identification in a prudent manner, and issue a Identification and Disposition Opinion on Similarities Between the Manuscript and Comparison Papers.
1. All newly submitted papers, papers pending acceptance and accepted papers;
2. Published papers reported on suspicion of academic misconduct.
The CNKI Scientific Journal Academic Misconduct Literature Detection System is used for plagiarism detection. If the similarity rate reaches 15% or above, the Editorial Department will submit the paper together with matched comparison papers to peer reviewers or the Editorial Committee to identify the nature and form of repeated content, and prepare the Identification and Disposition Opinion on Similarities Between the Manuscript and Comparison Papers.
A paper shall be identified as involving academic misconduct if any of the following circumstances applies:
1. The paper reproduces others’ research outcomes verbatim or nearly verbatim;
2. The paper converts the form of others’ research outcomes and presents them as independent original work of the author; or retains the core copyrighted components of others’ outcomes while altering their specific presentation forms, and falsely claims such outcomes as the author’s independent research achievements;
3. The paper quotes protected viewpoints, schemes, data, materials or literature of others without proper citation or corresponding reference list entries;
4. The core content of the paper is identical to the author’s own or others’ previously published papers or electronically released online works, with only superficial revisions and insufficient substantive research innovations;
5. The paper fabricates or falsifies research findings, survey data, experimental data or literature records;
6. The identical manuscript is simultaneously submitted to this journal and other publications;
7. Disputes exist regarding author attribution, author order or institutional affiliations marked in the paper.
1. The Editorial Department will handle all confirmed academic misconduct cases prudently and notify the author in writing. Authors shall be granted an opportunity to explain and defend themselves before a final disciplinary decision is issued.
2. If the paper has not been accepted, the editorial process shall be terminated immediately, the manuscript shall be rejected, and the author shall receive critical education.
3. If the paper has been accepted but not formally published, acceptance shall be revoked, the manuscript shall be rejected, and a formal warning will be filed in the author’s record.
4. If the paper has been formally published, a formal retraction notice will be issued in both the print edition and the official website of this journal; cooperating databases will be notified to delete the online version and stop all dissemination of the paper. The author’s affiliated institution will also be informed of the misconduct. The author shall return all remuneration paid for the paper, publish a public apology in the print edition to this journal, the infringed parties, the author’s institution and all readers for the infringement and adverse impacts caused, and bear corresponding legal liabilities. If the misconduct causes reputational damage or other losses to this journal, the Editorial Department reserves the right to claim further compensation.
5. For authors who commit severe plagiarism or submit and publish identical manuscripts in multiple journals, any manuscripts submitted by them as the first author or corresponding author will not be accepted by this journal within 3 years.
If an author disagrees with the misconduct identification and disciplinary decision, a written application for review may be submitted to this journal within 10 working days upon receipt of the formal notice (applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted). The Editorial Department will invite professional experts to conduct a secondary review of the manuscript, issue a final disciplinary opinion, and notify the author of the review result within 30 working days.
These Measures shall take effect upon promulgation and shall be interpreted by the Editorial Department of China Swine Industry.
