Abstract: In recent years, foot-and-mouth disease epidemics have occurred now and then. In the face of highly infectious diseases, especially in the current situation of scaled and intensified domestic farms, once the epidemic occurs, it is not conducive to control and may easily cause a large-size outbreak. Prevention and control measures against the disease therefore remain critical. This paper took foot-and-mouth disease as an example, briefly described the characteristics of foot-and-mouth disease, and introduced the four aspects of site selection and layout, production management, mobile risk and disease prevention and control of pig farm biosecurity measures. It was clarified that the construction of pig farm biosecurity system was the key and cornerstone of prevention and control, in order to provide effective guidance for scaled pig farms to deal with major diseases, build green, healthy and sustainable scaled pig farms, and promote the healthy development of breeding industry.

Key words: foot-and-mouth disease, scaled pig farms, biosecurity, pig farm construction
